About Counselling
What happens after I get in touch?
So that we can get to know each other a little bit before a first session, I will look to schedule a 10-15 minute phone-call with you after your initial inquiry.
I will be asking very briefly and broadly what brings you to counselling, confirmation of your weekly availability, and go over any admin that needs to be completed before your first session. You can also ask any questions you may have at this stage.
If we both decide to start counselling sessions, I will get back in touch and email a contract for you to sign. This is all very routine and simply ensures we are both on the same page regarding things like confidentiality and session cancellations. You are welcome to ask any questions about this when it is sent over and before you sign.
What can I expect from the first session?
I will send you a link to the session via email.
During the first session, we look to get to know a bit more about each other and what you may expect from possible future sessions. This includes getting to know more about what brought you to counselling, what you want from the sessions, and telling you a bit more about how I work.
We also discuss the counselling contract (which will be sent to you via email prior to the session) in more detail.
Session Rate
Each session will last 50 minutes as a standard ‘therapeutic hour’

How many sessions can I have?
There is no strict limit to the number of sessions you can have but this is something I like to collaborate on with you. To do this, every sixth session will be a bit of a 'review'; simply an open conversation that includes re-establishing any counselling goals. how the counselling experience has been so far, and any expectations for potential future sessions. During this, we will look at how we can move together towards your final counselling session.
